Pace duo Basant Mohanty and Deepak Behera shared six wickets to help Odisha beat Assam by five wickets in the East Zone Senior Men`s one-day match at Kalyani (West Bengal) today. The emphatic win, their first in two matches, fetched Odisha four points, while Assam drew blank.
Put into bat, Assam were skittled out for 103. Odisha then rode on a 55-run stand for opening wicket between Paresh Patel and Bikash Pati to overhaul the target in 23.2 overs. Pritam Das threatened to ruin Odisha`s party, scalping four wickets. But a cameo unbeaten 22 by Anurag Sarangi enabled Odisha clinch victory after being reduced to 77 for five.
The Biplab Samantray led Odisha team, which lost to Bengal by 25 runs in their opening match two days ago, will next meet Tripura on November 11.
